(Re-post cuz i wasnt paying attention to what day it was)

We were doing about a week long field thing. They were testing the engineers more, infantry was just there pulling security all the time. I couldn't complain though, it was fun. Besides helping put up concertina wire (I know that's not how it's spelled but you get it).

One night around 1900 I'm sitting behind my 240 thinking about good old military special gin and 8balls. Then I hear my Sgt "darby get the fuck over here" the other guy took the 240, I grabbed his rifle and ran over. Sgt boman showed me his phone, it was pictures of my Facebook of my purple hair before enlisting. I just said "sgt I stand by that decision and if I could I'd dye it again right now" He liked my answer and I crawled back into my hole.

Towards the end of the week, me sgt boman and my team leader sgt Newman, were sent to watch for a humvee and radio to the rest of the ambush when it drives by. They had someone else on the 240 and gave me an m4. I was still new so I keep looking at the road behind our little berm. They both kinda laughed at me and took out their phones. After awhile I relaxed and did the same, I had service so tinder it was.

After a few min sgt boman sees I'm on tinder, here's how the conversation went.

"Hey darby,lemme see your phone"

"Sgt I don't think that's a good idea"

"Hahahaha Darby give me your fucking phone"

"Idk sgt, I don't think you'd like it"

"I'm trying to help you out with your dating life, give me your phone or start pushing"

I gave him my phone, just waiting for the inevitable. He scrolled through the first few swiping on a couple girls until the first guy pops up. He went blank and then tried to play it cool and still go through a couple. This was around 2019 so people were kinda scared to offend people I guess? He got kinda apologetic and shit and kept saying he has no problem with my life choices or somehing like that., it was kind of him but felt weird. I don't see that part of me being a big deal and don't expect others to. Sgt Newman didn't say anything the whole time and none of us brought it up again. And it wasn't brought up for about a year or so. Probably alot less than that, there's alot of blackouts in there. Fake names of course, if you recognize this story, please don't.
