Yall know that any one that serves in the military is a vet. (Almost)
I am in the almost categorie. I spent 5 years in the national guard and five in the reserves.
If you never deploy for disasters or what ever or get called to deploy for the federal government you are not a vet.
there is is this funky little law that states you have to have 180 of active service not to include training. Ie basic ait don't count and the two weeks in the summer don't count.
this law came into effect during korea because you have to have known someone really important to get in.
I have thought about it a lot and i don't think it's right.
I gave my country ten years of my life and got thrown away not even with the recognition of having given my time to the country.
I know that the feds give a rats ass about vets, active service people. But Ng, Reserve people that never get deployed well thanks for your time but fuck off now.
Thats the tough realization you come to. Ya I am a little bit bitter about it. But the service community says you do any time ng Reserve even if you never meet that requirement your a vet.
Thanks to you all It means my time wasn't wasted.
The section of the law that covers this is Title 38
