Getting messy in the mess
Posted on
(FOUO) Hi everyone, first time poster. First off, I should mention that I'm not in the military and I'm not a veteran. But I did play a member of the military in a film I was in, and since I'm a method actor, I feel like I really learned to understand what it means to serve one's country.
(FOUO) On the day we we began to shoot the movie's big action sequence, I was paired up with an extra who was playing my battle buddy. Let's call him "Mike" although that wasn't his real name (his real name was Michael). Mike was an actual combat veteran who took his role very seriously, and he was always trying to show off his military knowledge. I was impressed by his dedication, but I could tell he was a little full of himself.
(FOUO) After a long day of shooting, Mike and I were in the "mess hall" set, enjoying leftovers from craft services and a few beers. I reached out to shake his hand, but instead of shaking it, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me in close. I thought maybe he was going to show me a secret special forces handshake or something, but instead, he kissed me full on the mouth!
(FOUO) I was shocked and confused, but I have to admit, he was a good kisser. Before I knew it, we were making out like two teenagers at prom.
(FOUO) Things started to get a little too hot and heavy for me, so I tried to pull away. But Mike wasn't having it. He held onto me tightly and whispered in my ear, "I want you, soldier."
(FOUO) I was taken aback, but also a little flattered. I mean, I'm not one to turn down a compliment, even if it's from another dude. But things were happening a little bit too quickly for me, so I decided to call it a night and head back to my hotel.
(FOUO) As I was leaving, Mike yelled after me, "Hey, soldier! Don't forget to brush up on your hand-to-hand combat skills for tomorrow's shoot!"
(FOUO) I nodded, trying to play it cool, but I couldn't help thinking to myself, "I think I've had enough 'hand-to-hand combat' for one day, thank you very much."
(FOUO) The next day, as I arrived on set, I saw Mike and Juan, the military advisor, waiting for me. I could tell by the serious looks on their faces that we were in for some intense training.
(FOUO) "Alright, soldier," Juan said, "today we're going to teach you how to take down an enemy combatant using only your bare hands."
(FOUO) I looked at Mike, wondering if he was going to make a move on me again. But he just nodded, his face a mask of seriousness.
(FOUO) We started with some basic moves, like jabs and punches, but it quickly escalated into full-on wrestling. I found myself locked in a tight embrace with Mike, our bodies pressed together as we grappled for control.
(FOUO) Juan was shouting instructions, telling me to use my legs to trip him up, but all I could think about was the fact that I was basically hugging Mike, and it was kind of nice.
(FOUO) Suddenly, I felt Mike's hand on my butt, and I jumped back, startled.
(FOUO) "Whoa, dude!" I exclaimed. "What are you doing?"
(FOUO) Mike just smirked at me. "What? You said you wanted to learn how to take down an enemy combatant with your bare hands, didn't you?"
(FOUO) I rolled my eyes and tried to focus on the training, but it was hard to focus and take it seriously with Mike making jokes like that.
(FOUO) Finally, we wrapped up the training session, and I headed back to my trailer to shower and change.
(FOUO) As I was getting dressed, there was a knock on my door. It was Mike, looking sheepish.
(FOUO) "Hey, man," he said. "I'm sorry about earlier. I was just messing around."
(FOUO) I nodded, not sure what to say.
(FOUO) "But, uh," he continued, "if you ever want to practice your combat moves again, just let me know."
(FOUO) "I appreciate the offer, but maybe another time. I've never had someone be the Goose to my Maverick, and I'm just not ready yet to have a wingman riding hard on my tail."
(FOUO) Mike looked me up and down and walked away with a knowing smile.
