Down Range, Colon, where the hookers are.
Posted on
Upon arriving at Fort Davis, I heard about the brothels in Colon. Colon is the second-largest city in Panama, and the closest city to Fort Davis. Colon was the destination for an ungodly amount of American greenbacks at the numerous bars, brothels, and shops in the duty-free zone. Cab rides to Colon were two dollars. Beers were fifty cents. Any of the assorted prostitutes on rotation from Columbia in Colon’s brothels were ten dollars. It was heaven for young, over-sexed American infantrymen. It was filthy. It was dangerous. It was Tijuana on acid. I cannot put into words how much we loved Colon. There was an intersection on the main boulevard in Colon where four very popular brothels stood: The Clairidge, La Flor, The Casanova and the Olympia. We would go in to each bar as a group, and have a beer. This is the advice that was given to us by the older guys that had been in our unit for a while: hit all four bars before you decide where you are going to spend your coveted ten bucks.
