The USS Stark is hit by two missiles fired from an Iraqi Dassault Mirage F1 Jet fighter in 1987, during the Iran-Iraq war killing around 37, injuring 21. Saddam Hussein however claimed it was a mistake, while the US blamed Iran for this.
