VAMTAC ST5 vehicles will be adopted by the Singapore Armed Forces

A new Spanish-made URO VAMTAC ST5 vehicles will be adopted by the Singapore Armed Forces. VAMTAC is the acronym for Vehículo de Alta Movilidad Táctico, which is Spanish for “High Mobility Tactical Vehicle”. The VAMTAC ST5 is sometimes referred to as the Spanish Humvee.
The VAMTAC ST5 is projected to replace the Humvee jeep Mercedes Benz MB290 series in the Army of Singapore. Thge first VAMTAC ST5 armored vehicles spotted in Singapore in October 2015, when when the vehicles arrived to be tested.
The URO VAMTAC comes with four-wheel drive capability, and is available in three primary configurations. The Singapore Armed Forces chosen pick-up configurations.
The VAMTAC ST5 is specifically designed to operate in any environment, including desert and is fitted with a reinforced armour over previous versions. The VAMTAC can be armed with wide ranges of weapons systems such as 7.62mm machine gun and 12.7mm gun, 40mm grenade launchers, anti-tank guided missiles, 81mm mortar, 106mm recoilless rifle or air defence missile systems.
