On 22 December, Ukraine’s armed forces successfully tested high-precision surface-to-surface guided rockets at the military proving ground in Odesa region.
According to Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, these tests ended the whole stage in the work of Ukrainian missilery developers and manufacturers. “Now we can say for sure that Ukraine has new powerful missile weapons, which will become a valid argument for the deterrence of the aggressor”, – Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine emphasized.
Mr. Turchynov said that during the tests ballistic characteristics were specified, a high-precision guidance system was checked, the efficiency of the new solid missile fuel and the reliability of hitting targets by the combat part were checked. “Also, which is very important, we tested the quality of new missile bodies made of superalloys manufactured on a unique technological equipment, the installation of which was completed last month at “Artem” State Joint Stock Company”, – Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine noted.

The new 300mm guided rocket, also known as VILHA, was developed by the Luch engineering bureau in cooperation with other Ukraine defence industrial companies. The rocket has a solid motor and can be armed with various types of warheads. It has so-called inertial correction system, which provides for angular stabilization of the round at the boost phase and flight.
The new system can deliver strikes as far as 20-120 km with a high degree of precision. The new rockets were launched from a 9K58 self-propelled launcher.
