U.S. Secret Service seeks to procure ammunition for 5.56mm rifles

The U.S. Secret Service (USSS ) is looking for a contractor to procure ammunition for a 5.56mm caliber rifle platform, according to requirement release put out by federal business opportunities website.
In notice said that the USSS seeks to establish an Indefinite-Delivery, Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract for the requirement. The requirement will be a small-business set-aside solicitation. The Government reserves the right to issue a single or multiple award contract. The period of performance will include one base year and three one-year option periods.
The caliber shall be 5.56mm NATO standard (Manual AC-225, Panel III/SP.1, D.200 and STANAG 4172).
The bullet shall be a copper jacketed bullet with a lead core. The bullet weight shall be 64 grains +/- 3.0 grains. Individual bullet weight shall not vary by more than 2.0 grains per lot.
The cartridge case shall be a military 5.56mm copper alloy case. Upon assembly, the case mouth shall be securely crimped into the projectile. A vent hole shall be present in the primer pocket of the cartridge case. The cartridge is designed to function in rifle and carbines for this caliber without modifications.
The overall length of the assembled cartridge shall not exceed 2.260 inches. The overall length of the assembled cartridge shall not be less than 2.235 inches.
The primer shall be seated in the cartridge case to a depth of 0.000 to .008 inch below the face of the cartridge case head.
For reference, the United States Secret Service is a federal law enforcement agency with headquarters in Washington, D.C., and more than 150 offices throughout the United States and abroad. Until 2003, the Secret Service was part of the Department of the Treasury, as the agency was originally founded to combat the then-widespread counterfeiting of US currency.
