Turkey unveiled new laser weapon system capable cuts through steel armor

Turkish defense companies are successfully and actively developing new laser weapon systems and this time was shown a new system capable of cuts through steel armor from 500 meters.
On 5 July, Undersecretary for Defense Industries (SSM) Ismail Demir has released the video o the successful tests on the new 1.25 kW and 20 kW laser weapon systems, called the ISIN Project.
The new High Energy Laser System is a product of Turkey’s Informatics and Information Security Research Center (Tübitak Bilgem) and has been introduced by the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM).
Turkey’s Undersecretary for Defense Industries released video showing the new 1.25 kW laser system mounted on the Cobra armoured vehicle chassis and 20 kW laser systems that successfully cuts a 22-millimeter steel armor plate from a range of 500 meters.
According to the DAILY SABAH newspaper, the weapons is said to have been developed to effectively eliminate threats posed by unmanned aerial and underwater vehicles at the range of 500 meters as well as improvised explosive devices and suspicious roadside packages at the range of 200 meters.
