Turkish company FNSS has conducted a successful test of the new anti-tank missile systems, according to the Anadolu Agency.
The Turkish Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) awarded FNSS Savunma Sistemleri a contract for 260 ATVs in June 2016. As part of the contract was conducted series of test of new Pars 4×4 wheeled Kaplan tracked Anti-Tank Vehicles.
The contract covers the supply of 76 Pars 4×4 and 184 Kaplan ATVs, which includes prototypes of each used for verification and qualification tests.
The project contract was signed on June 27, 2016, and entered into effect on October 14, 2016.
According to the FNSS officially, the programme is currently on schedule and production will soon start for final deliveries in 2021 and all 260 vehicles will be delivered to the Turkish Land Forces Command.
As envisaged in the project plan, the detailed design of the vehicles was examined and approved by the SSM and Land Forces Command on the 15th month of the project schedule. In addition to the detailed design, FNSS also manufactured the first KAPLAN-ATV prototype, and presented the Remote Controlled Anti-Tank Turret (RCAT), which is at the heart of the vehicle’s primary striking power, to users in order to obtain feedback prior to commencing factory tests.
The first prototype of the PARS ATV, which is the wheeled anti-tank system in the ATV project, began verification tests in May.
Serial production of both the tracked and wheeled vehicles in the ATV project is planned to be completed in 2021, with 260 vehicles expected to be delivered in total to the Turkish Land Forces Command.
