ThunderB UAV can fly more than 25 hours
Posted on
Developed by BlueBird, the ThunderB® UAV is a very unique unmanned aerial vehicle that creates high interest in many armed forces around the world. The system has proved its capability to fly for more than 25 hours.
ThunderB® has created a new niche in the tactical UAV arena providing capabilities previously found only in much larger UAV’s, usually with a weight of above 180Kg. The UAV is a small sized tactical drone (28Kg, ~4m wing-span), with long endurance fly capability (up to 16-24 hours), extended control range (over 100Km and can be extended up to 150km), and with its triple CCD, cooled/uncooled IR and optional laser pointer payload.
The drone demonstration that were also conducted in harsh weather including gusts of winds and rain, resulted in unmatched 25.5 hours of endurance from its automatic launch to its automatic parachute and airbag safe recovery, in which all the capabilities were demonstrated, including few hours of max speed flight.
ThunderB® is an excellent option for long ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) or tactical mapping on demand for open area as well as urban scenarios for military, peace keeping, low intensity conflict, security, law enforcement, S&R, disaster management and commercial applications.
The UAV capabilities will be showcased at the airshow at the AUS&R 2017 that will take place on September 18th, 2017 at the Lago Conference Center, Rishon LeZion.
