South Korea has completed the delivery of FA-50PH fighter jets for the Philippine Air Force, that was reported by news.abs-cbn.com.
Two more FA-50PH fighter jets from South Korea arrived on 31 May morning at the Philippine Air Force Harribon Hangar in Clark Airbase, Pampanga.
The latest batch completes the PAF acquisition of 12 FA-50PH fighter jets.
The FA-50PH fighter jets with tail numbers 011 and 012 are capable of carrying short range air to air missiles, air to surface missiles with 2-seat capacity and a length of 43 feet.
The FA-50PH is a special version of the FA-50 for the Philippine Air Force. The KAI T-50 Golden Eagle is a family of South Korean supersonic advanced trainers and light combat aircraft, developed by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) with Lockheed Martin. The T-50 is South Korea’s first indigenous supersonic aircraft and one of the world’s few supersonic trainers.
The first four FA-50PH aircraft delivered were displayed on 1 December 2016. On 26 January 2017, the Philippine Air Force used the FA-50PH in combat for the first time when two aircraft conducted a nighttime strike on terrorist hideouts in Butig, Lanao del Sur province in Mindanao.
