The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia plans to procure Boxer 8×8 armoured wheeled vehicles for a new Central Battalion Battle Group. 

Slovenia’s Ministry of Defence said in a press release on 2 February that the deal for future procurement of Boxer 8×8 armoured wheeled platform for a new Central Battalion Battle Group to be signed in later in the year.

In order to realize the investment in the new 8×8 armoured wheeled platform, the Ministry of Defense, in accordance with the Regulation on the uniform methodology for the preparation and treatment of investment documentation in the defense field, prepared and approved the required investment documentation. In the financial plan of the Ministry for the years 2018 and 2019, the Ministry of Defense has provided funding for the realization of an armoured wheeled platform.

In February 2018, the Ministry of Defence will give a written initiative to the international organization OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation) for Slovenia’s accession to the multinational BOXER program. Slovenia’s Ministry of Defence has allocated funding for the procurement in 2018 and 2019, with the acquisition of an 8×8 platform included in both the country’s medium- and long-term defence planning programmes.
