Su-27 crews of the Russian Western MD aviation formation practiced escorting Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, which carried out a scheduled flight over territories of the Leningrad region and Karelia as well as the Barents Sea water zone.

Western MD pilots were changed by fighters of the Northern Fleet naval aviation after having reached borders of the responsibility zone.

Moreover, the crews held training on intercepting and liquidating aerial targets during simulated aerial duels.
