The Russian Helicopters holding, a subsidiary of the Rostec state corporation, has showcased an updated unmanned tiltrotor aircraft concept at the MAKS 2017 international airshow.
The experimental prototype of unmanned convertiplane called VRT30 has been developed under the leadership of the VR-Technologies Design Bureau.
“The VRT30 is a flying laboratory that will serve as a basis for a similar vehicle with a takeoff weight of up to two tons. The promising convertiplane is planned to incorporate the cutting-edge superconductivity technology developed by the SuperOks Company,” Russian Helicopters Group CEO Andrei Boginsky said.
At the end of 2017, the unmanned tiltrotor aircraft will go to the second stage of trials, and from the end of 2018 it is planned to be sent to mass production.
New tiltrotor aircraft and heavy unmanned aircraft are created in the interests of the Russian military, said Commander of the Aerospace Forces Col. Gen. Viktor Bondarev during the 13th International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2017.
