Russian Air Force receives fourth upgraded A-50U airborne warning and control aircraft

The PJSC “United Aircraft Corporation” announced that the fourth upgraded A-50U airborne early warning and control (AEW) aircraft was delivered to Russian Air Force.
The A-50U is an improved Russian AEW aircraft with a new radar, increased maximum takeoff weight, and increase of the range and mission time performance. The A-50U AEW aircraft developed by Beriev Aircraft Company in Taganrog.
The A-50U airborne early warning and contol aircraft is intended to perofrm the following missions: detection, tracking and IFF determination of the air and surface targets, surveilance, command, control and communication functions for both commands posts of automatic control systems, guidance of fighters to air targets and attack aviation to serface targates.
The main element of the modernisation involves replacing the outdated analogue equipment with a new, digital avionics suite supplied by Vega Radio Engineering Corporation JSC. Notable improvements include faster data processing, enhanced signal tracking, and improved target detection. Crew rest, toilet and galley facilities are also included in the upgrade.
