The Syrian Arab Army received upgraded  Russian BM-21 “Grad”  truck-mounted 122 mm multiple rocket launchers mounted on the newer Ural-4320-31 six-by-six army trucks.

Earlier, in the arsenal of the Syrian army, there were BM-21 “Grad” multiple rocket launchers on the chassis of Ural-375 trucks with petrol engines.

In the period from the mid-nineties of the twentieth century to 2002, together with other brands of the Urals, the Ural-4320-31 truck was in series production. It featured a longer hood and an air filter on the right side of the cab. It had a lifting capacity of 6.85 tons and could pull a trailer with a total mass of 11.5 tons.

The BM-21 Grad (hail) multiple launch rocket system entered service with the Soviet Army in 1963. It was produced for a long period of time in large quantity both for the Soviet Army and for export customers.

Currently the BM-21 Grad is in service with more than 30 countries. It is the most widely used artillery rocket system in the world. There are numerous variants, copies and modifications of this vehicle.
