Poland orders new South Korean self-propelled howitzers chassis

Polish defense contractor Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) and Samsung Techwin signed the contract to supply chassis for polish Krab 155 mm self-propelled howitzers (SPHs).
Hanwha Techwin Co., the defense and aircraft engine making unit of Hanwha Group, announced on December 15 that it signed a US$260 million deal (308.1 billion won) with Poland’s state-run defense contractor Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. (HSW) in Poland on the 14th for the second shipment of the hulls of the K-9 self-propelled howitzers.
Under the agreement, Hanwha Techwin will deliver the 96 self-propelled howitzers to HSW from 2017 to 2023.
Previously, the company received an 83.2 billion won order to build 24 K-9 self-propelled howitzers chassis for the same company in 2014, with the delivery completed in October, the statement said.
KRAB is a 155mm self-propelled howitzer (SPH) manufactured by the Polish heavy industry manufacturer Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) in cooperation with BAE Systems. The Krab includes South Korean Hanwha Techwin K9 Thunder chassis, the British BAE Systems AS90 Braveheart turret, and a German L52 155 mm artillery piece.
