Netherlands started to supply 150 Mercedes-Benz GD light utility vehicle for Lithuania

In late June and early July to Lithuania from Dutch began to arrive off the military used Mercedes-Benz GD light utility vehicle.
In total there will be 150, they will join the fleet of SUVs Lithuanian army.
This vehicles delivered to Lithuania from June 27, the supply will end July 15.
Lithuanian army under a bilateral agreement buys Dutch armed forces used military vehicles – cars, Mercedes-Benz GD various purposes, tractors and trucks DAF, tralee.
The Mercedes-Benz G-class is also referred as Gelandwagen, G-Wagen, G-Wagon. In German Army service it is known as the Wolf. It was developed in the early 1970s as a military vehicle from the ground up. The first prototype was revealed in 1974. Production of this vehicle commenced in 1979. Since its introduction the G-class is also available for civilian customers as sport utility vehicle. This military vehicle was constantly improved. In 1990 the redesigned G-class replaced the Volkswagen Iltis in the German Army service. Later it replaced the Iltis with Canadian Army. Currently the Mercedes-Benz G-class is still in production. It is in service with more than 60 countries. Each year 4 000 to 6 000 of these trucks are produced both for military and civil customers. In some countries it is manufactured under license.
