Kuwait is set to receive several thousand general purpose bombs from the USA, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced on 2 August.
According to the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the US State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Kuwait of various Mk- series munitions for an estimated cost of $40.4 million.
The Government of Kuwait has requested to buy one thousand twenty Mk-82 500 bombs, one thousand two Mk-83 bombs and six hundred Mk-84 bombs. Also included in the sale are general purpose bomb components and fuzes, support and test equipment and other support services.
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency noted that Kuwait intends to use these munitions with its current fleet of F/A-18 aircraft. Kuwait will have no difficulty absorbing these munitions and support into its armed forces.
