Kazakhstan marks Defenders’ Day with massive military parade

Kazakhstan held military parade dedicated to the Homeland Defender’s Day at the training ground of the Otar military base in the Zhanbyl region.
On this day in 1992, commander-in-chief Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the order on establishment of the national armed forces.
The military parade took place at the military base Otar in Kordai district, Jambyl region on this day. The commander-in-chief arrived at the site by a helicopter in company of Defense Minister Saken Jasuzakov.
Around 3,000 servicemen, 300 military vehicles, 40 planes participated in the parade.
The parade was hosted by the Commander-in-Chief of Kazakh Armed Forces, President Nursultan Nazarbayev. In his speech, the Head of State said that by 2020, the necessary amount of funds from the country’s GDP will be allocated for defense purposes. A highly mobile Special Operations Forces and Territorial Defense Forces were created in order to effectively respond to new threats and security challenges.
