Indian Air Force loses another IAI Heron UAV

According to media reports Israeli made Heron Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) of the Indian Air Force, used for surveillance, crashed at 3.15 pm today on the outskirts of Uttarlai . Heron UAV had taken off from Uttarlai air base in barmer district of Rajasthan .
This is second crash of Rs 80 crore worth Heron Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in recent times last crash happened in November last year were a another Heron belonging to IAF crashed near Mankunva village, about 40km from Bhuj town in Kutch. Today’s crash damaged a house partially but luckily know one was injured on ground .
Heron is a medium-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle developed by Malat division of Israel Aerospace industry. It is capable of medium altitude long endurance operations of up to 52 hours’ duration.
