Egypt to receive M60 tanks engine overhaul parts package

The U.S. Government, through its U.S. Army Contracting Command, has awarded Tecmotiv a contract for engine overhaul parts package for Egyptian M60 tanks.
In a statement made Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Defense has announced that the Tecmotiv Inc., was awarded a $19,6million Foreign Military Sales (Egypt) contract for M60 engine overhaul parts package.
Work will be performed in Niagara Falls, New York, with an estimated completion date of Nov. 25, 2020.
The M60 Patton is a second-generation main battle tank (MBT) introduced in December 1960.
The M60 is one of the world’s most successful main battle tanks with 15,000 having been produced and serving in the armies of 22 countries. The tank has provided proven battlefield performance over four decades and has been continuously advanced and upgraded with advanced weapon control, ammunition, applique armour and increasingly powerful engines.
The M60 series main battle tanks of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the USA were deployed in Operation Desert Storm in 1991 during the Gulf Crisis.
