Dramatic footage showing the moment of the crash of the South Korean MUH-1 Marineon military helicopter, which claimed five lives was released by the popular Korean defense industry blog Bemil.chosun.com.
The video, which was being circulated on Twitter and Facebook, appears to have been taken from a surveillance camera at the airfield in Pohang in the North Gyeongsang Province of South Korea.
On 17 July, South Korean MUH-1 Marineon military helicopter was performing a test flight, when it went down from a 10-meter altitude, at about 4:46 p.m. (local time), and caught on fire, Marine Corps officials stated.
“The helicopter crashed while it was on its test flight. The military will launch an investigation team to find the exact reasons for the accident,” an official said.
Five out of the six passengers were killed, and the injured person was taken to the hospital. An investigation committee will be formed, to determine the cause of the crash, Marine Corps officials have announced.
The video shows the moment when the helicopter took off during which the main rotor was destroyed.
