Chinese and Pakistani special forces have held a joint military exercise in a bid tostrengthen their cooperation in fighting terrorism.

The exercise was carried out in a border region between the two sides, and involved elitecommandos from the two countries’ special forces.

Training programs during the drill included armored vehicle charging, door-to-doorsearches, street battles, and besieging terrorists in a simulated raid on terrorist forces.

Zhang Baoming, a senior officer with the Chinese special forces, says the troops from thetwo sides also held in-depth discussions on a joint counter-terrorism command system.

“The Chinese and Pakistani forces have conducted in-depth and detailed communicationregarding the subjects of construction of a counter-terrorism command system and use oftactics. The exercise helps strengthening the abilities for the two forces to fight terroriststhrough coordinated command systems, and further cemented the friendship and thecounter-terrorism cooperation mechanism between the two forces.” said Zhang Baoming.

The officer said the Chinese special forces tested tactics and gained experience with theirPakistani counterparts, which has undergone years of warfare with the extremist groups inthe country’s volatile regions.
