The China Army and Navy is to acquire new Arctic Mi-8AMTSh-VA helicopter from Russia.
“He has export potential. China is interested in them and a number of countries. Argentina and all countries with access to the Arctic shores, I think it will be ordered, “- said Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (UUAP) Managing Director Leonid Belykh.
The new Arctic Mi-8AMTSh-VA has a number of design solutions related to its use in northern latitudes. Among its main design features is a unique technology of heating the oil system and transmission units. The system allows for a quick engine launch with autonomous and non-hangar helicopter storage at temperatures as low as -60°C.
The Mi-8AMTSh-VA helicopter was developed specially for operation in the country’s north in temperatures lower than -40°С. With auxiliary fuel tanks, the helicopter has a range of over 1,300 km. The Mi-8AMTSh-VA helicopter is equipped with powerful Klimov-made VK-2500-03 engines and enhanced gears. It boasts a TA-14 auxiliary power unit delivering improved thrust and power output meeting the needs of the helicopter’s energy-intensive on-board systems.
