U.S. defense contractor, Boeing was awarded a $65 million contract for Small Diameter Bomb Increment I miniature munitions, according to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) report.

The indefinite-delivery and indefinite-quantity contract provides for integration, sustainment and support of the Small Diameter Bomb Increment I miniature munition and carriage system on various Foreign Military Sales aircraft platforms.

According to DoD’s report, this support includes all testing, engineering, management, technical, and logistical activities associated with Small Diameter Bomb Increment I weapon system with various aircraft and associated systems.

The Boeing’s Small Diameter Bomb is a precision-guided munition that enables aircraft to attack more targets in a single mission. The weapon is suitable for fighter aircraft, bombers and unmanned combat aircraft.

The Small Diameter Bomb system is the next generation of low-cost and low collateral-damage precision strike weapons for internal and external carriage. With a range greater than 60 nautical miles, SDB’s precision guidance and compact size allow today’s warfighters to surgically prosecute more targets per sortie.

Work will be performed in St. Louis, Missouri, various Air Force test ranges, and in each respective country. Work is expected to be complete by April 15, 2029.

This contract involves foreign military sales to Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Greece, Israel, South Korea, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Singapore and any other future country with an approved letter of offer and acceptance.
