The U.S. Marine Corps has issued a contract to BAE Systems Land & Armaments (a wholly owned subsidiary of BAE Systems) for 30 Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACV).

The terms of the deal, announced by the U.S. Department of Defense, come under a modified agreement for BAE Systems to provide production of  fully amphibious, ship-launchable and ship-recoverable 8×8 wheeled combat vehicles.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, BAE Systems Land & Armaments LP, is awarded a $140,3 million modification to exercise options for the fixed-price-incentive (firm target) Contract Line Item Numbers (CLIN) 3001, 3002, and 3003 portions of a previously awarded contract (M67854-16-C-0006).  

This modification is for the purchase of 30 Amphibious Combat Vehicles and associated production, fielding and support costs, to a December 6th statement.

Work will be performed in York, Pennsylvania; and Aiken, South Carolina, and is expected to be completed in August 2020. 

According to BAE Systems, ACV is an advanced 8×8 open ocean-capable vehicle that is based on a platform developed by IVECO Defence Vehicles. It is equipped with a new 6-cylinder, 700HP power pack, which provides a significant power increase over the current Assault Amphibious Vehicle.

The vehicle performs best in class mobility in all terrains and has a suspended interior seat structure for 13 embarked Marines, blast mitigating positions for a crew of three, and improved survivability and force protection over currently fielded systems.
