Azerbaijan’s military destroyed Armenian short-range air defence system

Azerbaijani Defense Ministry says successful destruction of Armenian short-range air defence system on Khojavand-Fizuli direction.
In order to prevent the threat to Azerbaijani aircraft and suppress the enemy’s activism, the Osa short-range air defence systems and the transloader vehicle were completely put out of action by fire, the crew was destroyed.
The 9K33 Osa is a highly mobile, low-altitude, short-range tactical surface-to-air missile system. The Osa entered service with the Soviet Army in 1971. This air defense system was used by motorized infantry units. Production ceased in 1989.
The conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh began in 1988, when the Armenian-dominated autonomous region sought to secede from the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, before the latter proclaimed independence following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
