On June 26, the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Annapolis (SSN 760) made a successful test launch of Tomahawk cruise missiles.

According to U.S. Navy’s statement, the crew of the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Annapolis (SSN 760) successfully launches Tomahawk cruise missiles off the coast of southern California as part of a Tomahawk Flight Test (TFT) June 26, 2018.

Attack submarines, as a USS Annapolis, are designed to seek and destroy enemy submarines and surface ships; project power ashore with Tomahawk cruise missiles and Special Operation Forces (SOF); carry out Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions; support battle group operations; and engage in mine warfare.

The submarine USS Annapolis (SSN 760) is the fourth ship in the history of the United States Navy named for Annapolis, Maryland, home of the United States Naval Academy. Her keel was laid down on June 15, 1988, she was launched on May 18, 1991 and she was commissioned on April 11, 1992.
