13 soldiers injured in collision of US Army armored personnel carriers in Lithuania

13 soldiers were injured in a car accident involving a convoy of four US Army Stryker armored personnel carriers currently in Lithuania for the country’s largest Saber Strike military exercise, said the Delfi.
The incident occurred in Prenay district, on the road of Kaunas – Prenay about 11.10, when the armored vehicles moved by a column.
According to preliminary data, one of the armored personnel carriers suddenly stopped by the barrier on the road, which provoked a collision.

As a result of the accident, 13 were injured. All of them are US citizens. Three soldiers were more seriously injured, the rest – minor injuries. All victims were taken to the hospitals of Kaunas. Police closed the road in both directions while the drivers were rescued and the road cleared of debris.

Representatives of the Military Police, Police and Ambulances are working now at the incident place.
Saber Strike is a long-standing U.S. Army Europe-led cooperative training exercise that helps facilitate cooperation amongst the U.S., Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and 19 other allied and partner nations.
