Originally developed as an armored reconnaissance vehicle the AMX-10 faced a challenge in Ukraine for which it was not primarily designed, the front which Ukraine advances is defended by minefields, drones and lots of heavy artillery, a mission best suited to a MBT with really robust armor, so the AMX-10RC instead of advancing to the front like the Leopard 2 or the T-72, it is used as a "sniper tank", that is, it follows the advance of the troops from a distance providing support with its powerful 105mm cannon against enemy vehicles and positions, but it is also widely used for indirect fire, really as an artillery, in the same way the Russians use their T-55 with 100mm cannon.
