Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive aerospace, defence and security hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 15% new job postings, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the Asia-Pacific aerospace, defence and security industry in Q1 2023 , ahead of Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 12% share of new job postings.

The other prominent roles included Management Occupations with a 10% share in Q1 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 4% share and Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 4% share of new job postings.

Top five companies accounted for 64% of hiring activity

Raytheon Technologies posted 1,651 jobs in Q1 2023 and registered a growth of 172% over the previous quarter, followed by Thales with 617 jobs and a 26% drop. Airbus, with 424 jobs, and BAE Systems, with 396 jobs, recorded a 3% drop and a 1% rise, respectively, while Elettronica recorded a 58% decline with a 315 new job postings during Q1 2023.

Regional analysis of hiring in the Asia-Pacific aerospace, defence and security industry, Q1 2023

India held the leading share of the Asia-Pacific aerospace, defence and security hiring activity with a 56.42% share, 0.56% decrease over Q4 2022. Australia was next with 17.30%, four-percentage-point down over the previous quarter.
