Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered a 3.3% drop in IT hiring activity in December 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 4.47% in December 2022 when compared with November 2022.
Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 17.89% share in December 2022, recording an increase of 0.49% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in December 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry in December 2022.
1) Computer and Information Research Scientists recorded a share of 39.29% in December 2022, registering a 13.79% growth over the previous month.
2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 29.76% share, an increase of 47.06% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 26.19%, registering a 144.44% rise from November 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 3.57%, down 50% over the previous month.
Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in December 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 58.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry during December 2022 over November 2022.
Thales posted 31 IT jobs in December 2022 and registered a rise of 158.33% over the previous month, followed by Boeing with 15 jobs and a 54.55% drop. Cubic with 15 IT jobs and Northrop Grumman with 9 jobs, recorded a 1400% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Saab recorded an increase of 200% with 6 job postings during December 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.95%, up by 4.44% from November 2022. Mid Level positions with a 29.76% share, registered an increase of 78.57% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.9% share, up 233.33% over November 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.38%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
